LEE JESSE GALLOWAY

Source - Crawfordsville Journal Review - 21 Nov 1955

Lee Jesse Galloway, 46, who since 1938 had operated the Galloway Chevrolet Sales here with his father, was killed instantly about 1 a.m. when his car failed to make a sharp curve on Ind. 55, 10 miles east of Newtown. Saturday Galloway and other car dealers, as a prize for selling a certain quota of used cars, had attended the Purdue-Indiana football game at Bloomington. That night a banquet was held for the winners in Indianapolis and it was from that banquet that Galloway was returning home. Born in Fountain County on Jan 6, 1909, he was the son of A.T. and Bessie Gross Galloway. On March 21, 1931, he married Katherine Gray. He was a member of the Newtown Methodist Church, of the Masonic Lodge and of the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department. He was a 1927 graduate of the Newtown High School. Survivors include the widow; a son Phillip, at home; the parents, of Newtown, and a brother, Carl of Dover. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.m Tuesday at the Newtown Methodist Church, with Rev. Lester Knopfmeier, assisted by Rev. Leroy Houk, officiating. Burial will be in the Newtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the Grenard and Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. - kbz
